Corporate background:
Discographer Bill
Dean-Myatt notes that this label was
produced by the Homophon company, which also produced the
Homophone and Homokord labels, as well as pressing labels for
other clients.
‘Chaunticleer’ is the medieval
name for the cockerel or rooster, whose voice would
‘chant cler’ (sing loudly) each day.

collector Martín Javier

Design: Standing
between what looks like town and country in the distance, the
fine-looking rooster has proudly announced the rising of the
morning sun.
The influence of Jugendstil, the German
version of Art Nouveau, can be seen in the terminals of the
border around the lower segment.
In the label name, the ascenders of the
script lettering bleed off into the border, to allow the
‘x-height’ to be as large as possible.
