Corporate background:
Label scan courtesy of UK collector and
music researcher Bill Dean-Myatt, who writes: “[Syrena was in existence
from] 1904 to 1939; this example dates from about 1906. This
label was produced when Poland was part of the Czarist Empire.
It [the company] was based in Warsaw; its history and catalogue
have been documented by Tomas Lerski in an 850-page book with
over 1,000 illustrations.”
|
Design: The
beautifully drawn illustration, printed in several colours by
lithography, reveals how quickly the 78 rpm label developed as
an art form.
