Corporate background:
Thanks for info to Chris Zwarg, who writes:
“The name refers to the record being double-sided.
“This was the first series of such
records made by the Gramophone Co. Ltd. (aka HMV), as an answer
to the many makes of cheap German double-sided records flooding
the British market at that time.
“About two years later, the green
‘Zonophone’ label (also made by HMV) went
double-face as well, and the Twins logo was incorporated into
the Zonophone label
design.“
|
Design: The
heads and faces of the twins in the logo seem to have been
extensively 'doctored.'
A pleasant colour combination of
creamy-brown stock overprinted with dark brown ink.
