Corporate background:
Thanks to Adam
Miller for the following info:
“From Don
Taylor's English 78 Picture Book, Bulldog
Records were established during WW1 by William Ditcham. Masters
were mostly outdated Beka and Favorite material. In later years
a green and yellow paper label replaced the earlier etched
variety [see next label], Crystalate continued to press the
discs until Bulldog's fadeout in the 1920s.”

Label scan courtesy of UK music researcher
and collector Bill Dean-Myatt.
|
Design: This
‘label’ is actually engraved directly into the
record surface.
This treatment was used in the early days
of record manufacture (see Disque Aspir, Pathe, Zon-O-Phone).
Despite the limits imposed by the
technology, the information is clear and well presented.
