Corporate background:
A ‘store label’ manufactured
for William Cooper Bros. of London.
Launched in 1912, Coliseum survived until
1927.
Label scan courtesy of UK music researcher
and collector Bill Dean-Myatt.
|
Design: A
carefully-crafted design with high-waisted Roman capitals for
the label name, the top line following the outer curve and
modified to fit (see the U and M, which spread outward at the
top).
The classical Roman theme is continued in
the hanging swags, but the lampshade-shaped border has more of
the Jugendstil feel (compare with the Artigas label).
