Corporate background:
Columbia's 12" Symphony Series was
first introduced in 1906.
At a time when other records were priced at
under $1, these were $1.50 (for some, more than a week’s
wages, though the comic actor Charlie Chaplin was making
$10,000 a week).
|
Design: Featuring
a red, white and blue 'silk sash' with fringed ends.
The ‘highest awards’ spiel is
given prominence, with the name of the artist and other
information fitted awkwardly into remaining available space,
making the design cluttered-looking.
The 'note' logo makes only a token
appearance.
