Corporate background:
Paramount (unrelated to the movie
distribution company, though songs from movies seem to have
been featured) had its beginnings in 1917.
The label states that this is a
vertical-cut product; Paramount switched to lateral-cut
technology in the summer of 1919.

Design: The
design shows an eagle perched on the lid of a phonograph
machine.
The image was changed in 1920 to show the
same bird atop a globe.
The 'bat-wing' shape of the upper part of
the outer border mimicks the Victor label, as does the pudgy
typeface used for the Paramount name.
