Corporate background:
One of many labels supplied by Carl
Lindström’s Fonotipia company to the South American
market.
Though WWI interrupted his European trade,
the South American connection continued.
Label scan courtesy of Martín Javier Gorosito of Argentina.
|
Design: A Greek
or Roman goddess bearing a triangular-shaped stringed
instrument raises a laurel wreath in one hand (symbolizing
victory?).
Above is a shooting star, a portent of
heavenly significance.
The scroll passing between the
goddess’ feet is blank, suggesting that the image was a
type of ‘clip art,’ to be adapted for any graphic
purpose.
