Design: The
Edwardian-style ‘H&S’ monogram is featured at
the centre inside a thick border, the ampersand nicely placed
to avoid obliteration by the spindle hole.
The treatment of ‘Star Record,’
with its straight baseline and curved cap line, is very
unorthodox at this time, when almost all label names ran in a
semicircular fashion, following the outer edge of the label.
This would have been a challenging job to
print, with the tight register of red and gold throughout.
