Corporate background:

collector Martín Javier
Gorosito.
Artiphon, founded in 1919, lasted until
early 1932, when it was suppressed by the Nazis because of its
Jewish ownership.
The Nazis were diligent about depriving
Jews of their business interests and eradicating any trace of
Jewish influence on German culture.
|
Design: The
high-waisted typeface used for the imprinting is Korinna, which
first appeared in 1904 and is a result of the influence of Art
Nouveau on German commercial art.
It became known as ‘Jugendstil’
(“young Style”), and was in vogue from c. 1900 -
1914.
In its overall design, the label shows the
influence of post-war rationalism, which was a reaction to the
sentimental pseudo-Gothicism of an earlier design.
The spindle hole causes an uncomfortable
breaking of the word ‘Record.’
