Corporate background:
Founded in Iowa in 1901, Brenard marketed
records from 1921 to 1925.
|
Design: A
script logo in a Coca-Cola style typical of the 1910 - 1920
period, but with the swash emphasis appearing above the label
name instead of below it.
The curvilinear arabesque ornamentation
seen in the border matches the curvy lettering of the label
name.
Earlier Claxtonolas, produced by the New
York Recording Laboratories, were bright blue and gold (as
here). From 1924 those produced by Gennett were of a deeper
shade of blue.
