Corporate backgound:
Columbia was doing well in the late 1920s,
as witnessed by the money being spent on this multi-colour
'potato-head' label featuring chubby-faced jazz bandleader Paul
Whiteman.
The depression years were soon to tell a
different story, with sales coming a virtual dead halt, and by
1931 the company would be sold off.
|
Design: Strong
horizontal segmentation in the style of the previous label, but
marred by poor typography.
