Corporate background:
Label scan courtesy of UK music researcher
and collector Bill Dean-Myatt, who notes: “All the material [on this
label] seems to be Armenian.”
|
Design: The
printing has been done by letterpress, so all the fonts are
hot-metal.
The top line, ‘Disque,’ is set
in a lovely high-waisted stub-serif display typeface, possibly
dating from the turn of the century.
The word ‘Colibri’ is set in a
sans-serif font called Futura, which was designed in Germany in
1925 and achieved instant international success.
The numbers are set in Copperplate Gothic,
designed in the U.S. in 1904.
The other lines are set in Cheltenham, also
designed in the U.S. in 1904 and widely popular ever since.
