Corporate background:
Launched in 1928, Dominion ceased
trading in 1930, but the company was not finally wound up until
1934.
|
Design: A
shining record encircles a full-colour reproduction of the
world, like the ring around Saturn. (Note the segments of the
British Empire, coloured red.)
With the logo occupying so much space, the
credit lines are positioned, rather unusually, at the top of
the label.
A critical register job for the printer,
with the inside of the main line of lettering rendered in
overlapping colours. The sound reproducer of a gramophone forms
the second 'O' of 'Dominion.'
The spindle hole is punched through the
centre of the world, taking part of the label name with it.
