Starr Gennett (Canada) / 1920

Corporate background:
While the parent company, Indiana-based Starr Piano, changed its label name to Gennett in 1917, the Canadian subsidiary kept the name of Starr.

Sold in the early 20s to Compo (owned by Herbert Berliner, son of industry pioneer Emile Berliner), it would last into the 1940s.
Design: Featuring a distinctive hexagonal format, with curvilinear ornament filling the outer spaces.

The curlicued Gothic lettering for the label name follows an arc shape but retains verticality, not being splayed outward, as with the Sterno label.
