Corporate background:
Sold between 1928 and 1930 by mail order
superpower Sears, Roebuck.
|
Design: A
decorative collage of panels and curlicues.
Though reminiscent of plant growth, the
lines are not truly organic, being more typical of the
Victorian passion for filling up empty spaces with excessive
doodling.
The five lines across the main line of
lettering presumably represent a music staff; the panel
containing the main line might be a distorted Aeolian harp.
Super-electric recording presumably means
better microphones.
