Design: A
whimsical, pseudo-mediaeval offering, which descends to the
absurd in using ‘Ye’ in the label name, typeset in
a high Victorian font (the ‘U’ in
‘Popular’ appears to be reversed left to right).
The organic decoration at each side is more
Art Nouveau, of a slightly later date than the lettering.
Note the nice illustration of a
trumpet-blowing herald in the trade mark, behind the box
containing the letters RSC (meaning unknown).
