Corporate background:
Produced by Gennett Records, Superior
records were first issued in December 1930, just as the U.S.A.
was entering the throes of the Great Depression.
Less than two years later, with sales of
all records having dried up, the label had expired.

Design: A
stable-mate of the Champion label:
many similarities can be seen in the design treatment,
especially the outside border and the ‘electrically
recorded’ line.
The logo is interesting in that while it
shows a curling swash above the name and a straight one below,
both reflect characteristics of the lettering itself.
