Corporate background:
Launched in 1920, the Okeh label was
sold to Columbia in 1926.
Discontinued in 1935, it was revived in
1940 and continued into the 1950s.
|
Design: On the earliest Okeh label,
the name-style had the O and H as the largest letters, but when
transformed into script, the O and K were emphasized. The
script has been updated here to a more commercially slick
style.
Originally red, the label’s
background colour became black in the 1930s and mauve, as here,
in the 1940s.
