Corporate background:
First used as an export label for Deutsche
Grammophon Gesellschaft in 1924, the German and British
components of The Gramophone Company having been separated by
WWI hostilities.
|
Design: The Favorite label
also featured a firmament of stars as a design element; whether
or not the labels are lineally related is unknown.
The careful typography is typical of German
design, which became exceptional after WWI, when Germany
decided to scrap its past traditions and take a fresh look at
all aspects of industrial design as part of its rebuilding
process.
