Design: Presumably,
the records were intended for a limited number of collectors,
and sales did not rely on visual appeal.
The printing, done by letterpress, uses the
odd combination of a fine-line decorative curlicue and fat-face
Bodoni italic, both being used in large sizes.
Typically, letterpress printers would not
carry a wide range of ready-to-use graphic images, so an
arbitrary choice was made to somehow ‘dress up’ the
label.
