Corporate background:
A small black-owned label in Los Angeles
that had a huge one-hit wonder on its hands with the
Penguins’ “Earth Angel.”
Ironically, success brought severe problems
to the company.
Its finances became overextended because of
the time lapse between manufacturing huge quantities of records
for sales outlets before revenues flowed back.
|
Design: The
name on the label is 'Dootsie Williams Publications,' and the
Dootone label name is appropriate for the 'Doo-wop' sound of
the Penguins.
Another silver on burgundy colour
combination, very popular in the 1950s.
