Corporate background:
Founded in Los Angeles in 1957 as a hobby
business by an aeronautical engineer who was keen on pop music.
Sam Cooke (1931 - 1964), ‘the King of
Soul,’ started out as a gospel singer, but had phenomenal
success with this and other secular songs.
He was shot dead in mysterious
circumstances in 1964 at the age of 33.

Design: The
font used for the label name is a Victorian-era font (if memory
serves, known as ‘Cuban’) featuring curved, sans
serif main strokes and rounded counters.
It enjoyed revival in the 20th century with
the name of 'Hobo.'
