Corporate background:
Launched in 1943 in Cincinnati as a
‘hillbilly’ music label, which moved into rhythm
and blues and pop music.
|
Design: An
example of a good design update from the earlier label; the
logo and lettering have both been greatly improved.
This is a beautiful line of Roman
lettering, its strong main strokes contrasting with a fine line
for the secondary strokes, featuring slightly upturned serifs
which give liveliness to the whole.
The crown is given simple treatment, in a
way that matches the lettering. Note the tiny 'K' at the top.
