Corporate background:
Label scan courtesy of Norwegian collector Kjell Thorsen, who
writes: "The G-Clefs were a doo-wop group from Roxbury
(Boston), Massachusetts, and consisted of four Scott brothers,
Teddy, Chris, Tim and Arnold, along with a fifth member, Ray
Gipson, who was a neighbour.”
|
Design: A
bare-bones assemblage, showing little in the way of style.
With a name like ‘Pilgrim,’
doubtless inspired by the local connexion with Boston’s
Pilgrim Fathers, the label could have been dressed up with a
romantic-looking historical image, but then, simplicity and
lack of ornament was the keynote of the pilgrims’ way of
life.
