Corporate background:
Ron Hall, author
of ‘The CHUM Chart Book’ writes: “The
Quality-King label was used only for King, Federal & Deluxe
labels which were all owned by King Records. The numbering
system ran from 4001 through 4374. Quality appears to have lost
the distibution of the King labels in 1956 when Bill Doggett's
"Honky Tonk" (King 4950) was released by Phonodisc as
Regency
520.
“Selected King, Federal and Deluxe
releases continued through 1962. Phonodisc's Delta label also
had selected King, Federal and Deluxe releases right through to
the last number, 3251.”
