Design: The font used for the label name is a Victorian-era font named Cuban, featuring curved sans serif main strokes and rounded counters. It enjoyed a modern-day revival with the name of Hobo.

History: Founded in Los Angeles in 1957 as a hobby business by an aeronautical engineer who was keen on pop music. Sam Cooke (1931-1964), 'the King of Soul,' started out as a gospel singer, but had phenomenal success with this and other secular songs. He was shot dead in mysterious circumstances in 1964 at the age of 33.
