Zodiac (U.S.A.) / 1953

Design: The outer edge is divided equally among the twelve signs of the zodiac, a complex astrological system attempting to explain reality which has its origins in the culture of ancient Babylon. Here, in the upper portion of the label, the world is seen as a partial sphere, divided into six segments, with the sub-title to the label name reading "The Sign of the Stars," probably in reference to the 'star status' of the artists appearing on the record. The design is clean and graphically the attractive, the label name is well-arranged as a logo, but the hand-lettering is a little suspect in terms of classic Roman proportions.

History: Unknown (have info? Please send to info.re.78s@shaw.ca). Label scan courtesy of collector Georg Richter of Germany.
